WHAT IS TB?
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) that most often affect the lungs. Tuberculosis is curable and preventable.
WHAT CAUSES TB?
The weak body system is the main cause of tuberculosis. It might be the result of improper and nutrition-less food items. Loss of sleep, extreme cold or hot can also be the cause of TB. Smoking and drinking are also important causes of TB because it provides a friendly atmosphere for germ growth inside the body.
HOW CAN I CONTRACT TB?
TB is spread from person to person through the air. When people with lung TB cough, sneeze or spit, they propel the TB germs into the air. After inhaling only a few germs the person becomes infected.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF TB? When a person develops active TB (disease), the symptoms of TB are a cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss etc. These symptoms may be mild for many months. It can result in delays in seeking care and ultimately results in the transmission of the bacteria to others. IS THERE TREATMENT FOR TB? TB is curable. If you are having symptoms of TB then visit your doctor as early as possible. The doctor will start TB treatment process if your TB test is positive.
CAN I BE COMPLETELY CURED?
If prescribed drugs course is completed and medicines are taken properly then yes TB can be completely cured.
HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF FROM TB?
If you are infected or someone from your family is infected, following guidelines are helpful to protect from Tuberculosis(TB).
- Wash hands after sneezing, coughing or touching mouth or nose.
- Wear the surgical mask, or place the tissue in the mouth while sneezing, coughing or laughing.
- Discard used tissues in the sealed bag in a safe manner. • Don’t attend office, school.
- Stay away from public gathering places.
- Sleep separately in the separate room. Keep the room well ventilated. TB spreads in small spaces, closed rooms. Use the fan in the window to blow out the room air that might contain bacteria.
