Profile – Kelvin Saptoe – QuickStrut SA – MBA North Member

Four years ago, Kelvin Saptoe brought his wide experience together to form QuickStrut SA. Quick Strut SA is a 100% black owned company, which has become a dynamic performer in the field of supplying the highest quality electrical supplies, cable management solutions and network infrastructure components.

Kelvin grew up in poverty-stricken Cradock, where he became a reborn Christian, very passionate about assisting people in need, and started evangelizing at a young age. He passed grade 12 in 1990 with distinction and completed a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering through UNISA, a master’s in advanced planning at WITS and a Certificate in 3rd Party Auditor approved by the International Operational Risk Management Institution. He has a full 15 years’ experience in his business field mainly with First Tech Lighting and Electrical, the main manufacturer for 90%+ of local produced products for Voltex/Cabstrut, and Kelvin says, “I headed up Quality and therefore played a pivotal role in their success.” Today QuickStrut SA also has expertise in ISO9001 & SHEQ and Compliance (System development, implementation & maintenance) and has come full circle to become a partner of ACDC Dynamics marketing Voltex/Cabstrut products.

To get straight to his business philosophy, Kelvin says “I aspire to reduce the burden on the people that I was exposed to most of my life, contractors. This is the main reason I started QuickStrut SA, to assist with project lead-times and to ease installation pains contractors.” And so QuickStrut has become a world class supplier of electrical supplies, cable management solutions and network infrastructure.

It is the vision of QuickStrut SA to be the preferred cable management supplier to the building & construction, mining, petro-chemical, agricultural, IT and Telecommunications industries and to provide employment to the people of South-Africa.

Kelvin notes “I have assisted many young people in my community with career guidance and counselling and established relationships with the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator Organisation and the South African Supplier Diversity Council to assist with intern deployment.”  And so too, QuickStrut SA has employed and equipped 21 staff members with training and skills development in various key areas in the business.

QuickStrut SA’s client base already includes Tri-star Construction, Presto Electrical, Herholdts Bloemfontein, Benetrax Machinery, Twin Line, plus +94, Vumatel and in addition to the MBA North, the company is a member of the Electrical Contractors Association and Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce.

Notably, in his spare time Kelvin is an active musician in his church band and fluent on the bass and rhythm guitar. And on that note! Kelvin Saptoe and QuickStrut SA would welcome contact regarding all your electrical and IT component requirements… they have them at their fingertips and the head office is in Florida, Gauteng and provides easy access.
