2017 MBA North Regional Safety Competition

Provides a platform from which companies may bench mark their HSE management systems and implementation against other companies in our region and nationally. By participating in the competition, the company verifies their compliance with relevant legislation and best practices in the industry.
- Only registered members of MBA North and policy holders of the Federated Employer`s Mutual Assurance company may be entered into the corresponding grouping.
- The sites/yards should be at least 20% past start up and not past 20% from completion at the time of judging.
- Sites/yards may be entered for the competition from 13 February 2017 until 31 March 2017.
- Competition judging/audits will be conducted by the MBA North Auditors.
- Upon receipt of an entry the auditor will arrange with the applicant for a suitable date and time for the audit to be conducted
- Competition results will be published by MBA North during July 2017.
- Category winners are automatically entered into the National competition.

- C – Less than R10m
- D – R10m to R25m
- E – R25m to R75m
- F – R75m to R150m
- G – R150m to R300m
- H – R300m to R500m

The Master Builders South Africa (MBSA) Occupational Health & Safety Audit System and Star Grading Programme audit is used to perform the audit. All relevant elements will be assessed.
Essential requirements for regional and national audits
Items that require 100% compliance before an audit can take place on a site:
- Proof of compensation registration and proof of good standing.
- Site Specific Health and Safety Plan.
- A site-specific risk assessment which must include the following: safe work procedures, a monitoring plan and a review plan.
- Disabling Injury Frequency Rate (DIFR).
The results will be published by the Master Builders Association North (MBA North).
An awards ceremony will be held on 17 July 2017, location is to be advised.
