Congratulations to the MBA North Safety Competition Winners and participants 2020

The MBA North Regional Safety Competition is an annual event where MBA North members and FEM policyholders are audited free of charge to provide a platform from which they can bench mark their H&S management systems and implementation against other member companies in our North region: Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North-West Provinces.

Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic National Lockdown, and the cancellation of the National Safety Competition for 2020, MBA North proceeded with the Regional Safety Competition audits owing to the high demand from our members especially during the Pandemic. The Competition Awards Ceremony and the formalities will however not take place this year.

26 entries were received, and 23 audits were successfully completed between 27th July 2020 and 31st August 2020. The number of entries were 61% down from 2019 due to the pandemic. The Lead Audit team comprised of MBA North Construction Health and Safety officers: Gerhard Roets and Manie Van As. The administration and verification of the audit results were
    conducted by Ashleigh Feeny.

The auditors used the MBSA Occupational Health & Safety Audit System during the judging. Additional COVID-19 questions were added to the audit system to monitor and evaluate the Companies compliance towards COVID-19 protocols.

MBA North made provision for specialized contractors to compete against each other, dividing into two (2) main categories namely: Sub-contractors with site establishment and Sub-contractors without site establishment.

    • Viva Formwork & Scaffolding and Presto Electrical

MBA North annually calls for special nominations during this competition for Best Performing: SHE Representative / OHS Officer / OHS Manager / Construction Manager / Client’s H&S Agent.

MBA North would like to thank each company for participating in the MBA North Regional Safety Competition. We are looking forward to hosting yet another successful Regional Safety Competition in 2021.
